| Night fell all was quite | | | | But all hope just fell |
| Everyone is sleeping | | | | To a sad crying fear |
| Some soon to be weeping | | | | That no-one around be it far or near |
| Some never knew what happened | | | | Throughout the sight |
| Others horrified at the sight | | | | Survived that night |
| On a cold dark March 1943 night | | | | Corps are found all hope drowned |
| Young and old were sadly killed | | | | The city a dead sound |
| From a wall that tumbled all around | | | | From near and far from city and towns |
| Always a sight but never made a sound | | | | They lay to rest all our ancestors who are |
| Until it crashed right to the ground | | | | eventually found |
| Emergency services rush in | | | | Better late than never to honor the dead and the |
| People run to the sight | | | | brave |
| Help where they can on that awful night | | | | And lay them peacefully in a massive grave |
| They dug and they cleared | | | | Now we celebrate in sober |
| They carried and placed | | | | Those who rest in their graves |
| They ran and they screamed | | | | On the sixtieth anniversary when we recall that |
| They desperately searched the scene | | | | night |
| Helped with identifying items they found | | | | Never known what was to happen |
| On rubble and papers all over the ground | | | | What may or what might |
| Hopeful to find | | | | In the middle of that awful night |
| A man, woman or child | | | | The bronze plaque is placed |
| Alive and well just with us in a site that was hell | | | | The tragedy never forgotten......... |
| For all those who helped | | | | |
